How to Sort Pets in Pet Forest

Rearrange the plot so the animals that pay sit on the tiles you can actually see.

How to Sort Pets

Players search “how to sort pets in Pet Forest” the week the plot fills. The panel is simpler than those search results imply. There is no public rarity dropdown, no search box, and no filter for Elusive-only. You get value sorts plus unsorted. That is enough if you treat sorting as a plot job, not as a spreadsheet.

This page is the dedicated walkthrough. The keyboard table still lives on Controls. Income math lives on the income planner and the income ranks. Do not wait for a patch that adds twenty filters. Use the three modes that exist.

Open the right panel

Stand on your own base. Open the pets or collection HUD — the same place you place animals on tiles. Look for least valuable, most valuable, and unsorted. Labels can shift slightly after a quality-of-life patch; believe the buttons on your build over a March screenshot. On mobile the same toggles sit at the top or side of the pets sheet. If you do not see them, you are in the index (species you have discovered) instead of the placeable list. Switch sheets.

Equipped pets — the ones sitting on tiles and ticking coins — tend to read first in the default view. That is why a weak candy sheep on a front tile keeps yelling at you. Sorting does not always yank it off the island. Sorting changes list order so you can pick a replacement without scrolling through fifty moths.

Most valuable in front

Use this when you are earning. High ticks belong on tiles you can see from the path, because those are the tiles you will replace during a Heatwave or after a clone. Community sessions treat “most valuable” as income plus size plus coat, not as “the one I like.” A Chromatic cupcake crab will jump the list. A plain quail will sink. After you sort, walk the front row and replace the first animal that still looks like a tutorial drop.

Do this after:

  • A clone lands in inventory
  • An Alien Event pet is placed
  • You extract a coat and the leftover body is weaker
  • Admin Abuse dumps something loud on the plot

If two pets look tied, open the planner. Do not argue with chat about a screenshot from another server.

Least valuable in front

Use this when you are cleaning. The worst earners come to the top of the list so you can grind, store, or move them without hunting through legendaries. This is the mode for a Sunday wipe before you favorite the official experience and log out. It is also the mode for finding the candy sheep that is secretly occupying a tile you thought was empty.

Least valuable is not a delete button. Limited Alien animals can read “mid” on coins and still belong in a save slot. Check the limited mythical list before you grind an event body because the sort called it poor.

Unsorted, and what sorting will not do

Unsorted is for hunting a name you just rolled. New pets often appear at an edge of the list when the sort is off. If you just shook a palm and cannot find the sea turtle, toggle unsorted, screenshot, then go back to most valuable so the plot does not stay chaotic.

Sorting will not:

  • Filter by biome, mutation name, or Chromatic star alone
  • Hide pets that are in save slots
  • Tell you official drop rates
  • Reorder another player’s base
  • Replace the collection checklist

If you need those jobs, you are asking the HUD for a wiki. Tick species on the checklist. Rank keepers on the tier list. Map trees on biomes and trees.

A session recipe

  1. Fill empty tiles first. Sorted order on a half-empty plot is theater.
  2. Switch to most valuable in front.
  3. Replace the worst visible tile, not a back-row favorite you are emotionally attached to.
  4. If a Heatwave banner is up, stop sorting and run the desert route on weather events.
  5. After the hunt, sort again so the new Elusive is not sitting in the backpack.
  6. Screenshot anything limited before you grind.

People who skip step one spend the Admin window rearranging sheep. People who skip step six grind an Alien pet because least-valuable told the truth about coins and lied about time.

Why this page exists besides Controls

Controls is a keybind table. Sorting is a habit. Search engines treat them as different questions, and new players bounce when the only answer is buried in a movement chart. Keep this tab open the first week. After that, the three buttons will feel obvious, and the income planner will do the thinking the panel refuses to do.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Where is the sort button in Pet Forest?

On the pets placement panel, not inside the species index. Look for most valuable, least valuable, and unsorted.

Does sorting change how much a pet earns?

No. Income ticks while the pet sits on a tile. Sorting only changes list order so you can place and replace faster.

Is there a filter for Elusive or Chromatic only?

Not in the public HUD. Use unsorted to find a name, then the collection checklist for tags.

Should I grind the pets that sort to the top of least valuable?

Only if they are not timed event bodies. Park limited Aliens even when the coin sort is unkind.
